Once you have completed your initial beginners course (or if you are already an accomplished fencer) you will be invited to become a member of the club. We currently have around 300 members including both social and competitive fencers. We pay particular attention to members who only recently started to fence and through on-going group training sessions we ensure that you learn and progress to the advanced stages of the sport. We are the only club in London to offer group lessons to advanced beginners and intermediate fencers. All sessions are structured and include warm up, footwork, bladework or tactical lesson and free fencing. (timetable)

To become a member of London Fencing Club you will need to pay a one off joining fee followed by the monthly subscription once you start training.

Monthly Subscription

The monthly subscription varies between £35 and £55 depending how many sessions per week you attend (see below). It is paid by standing order and entitles you to:

  • Attend chosen weekly group training/practice sessions (details below)

  • Obtain expert advice and feedback from coaches

  • Discounted rates for one-to-one lessons

  • Free use of non-electric fencing kit (i.e. masks, jackets, etc*)

  • Free use of electric piste sets (scoring apparatus and spools)

  • Join our fencing holidays abroad and attend various socials

  • Compete for the club (yes, you can do it!)

Group Training Sessions

The basic £35 pm membership entitles you to attend one chosen weekday class, e.g. Tuesdays foil class. If you wish to attend more than one session a week, please add extra £10 per month per each weekly session. For example if you sign up to attend epee classes on Mondays and Thursdays and the practice sessions on Saturdays, the monthly fee will be £35 + £10 + £10 = £55. We do recommend that recent beginners fence at least twice a week! Here is the list of times and venues for the group sessions and the availability of places:

Finsbury Leisure Centre, Norman St, London, EC1V 3PU:

8 pm - 9.30 pm - foil

8 pm - 9.30 pm - epee/sabre

2 pm - 5.00 pm -

Central Foundation Boys' School, Cowper St, London, EC2A 4SH (near Old Street round about):

The classes take place thoughout the year with the only short break during the Christmas/New Year period.
