Fencing classes for children

These classes are suitable for children and teens who have never done fencing before as well as for those with some basic previous knowldge. The classes are run by a team of highly experienced coaches. Boys and girls train together. All fencing equipment is provided, you only need to bring a t-shirt, trainers and track suit bottoms.

Our coaches try to teach kids about fencing in atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. They play plenty of games some of which are for improvement of speed and co-ordination, some - for develompment of specific fencing related skills and tacktical thinking. Each class includes learning of the fencing technique and of course plenty of sword fighting!

We aim to provide an exciting yet safe environment to learn our sport and encourage children to stay with the club as they grow. At the more advanced stages they can take part in various competitions fencing for their club, school, borough and maybe even the country. Our coaches, all of whom have international competetive expereince, are always there to help and motivate!

Beginners class for 7-9 year olds: Mondays, 5 pm - 6.20 pm:



Five classes for complete beginners, boys and girls..

If your child has never fenced before and would like to try - this is the ideal course. The participants will learn the fundamentals of fencing: the technique and the tactics, the rules and the tradition. They'll exercise in pairs as well as with the coach, gradually progressing to competitive fencing. Upon completing this course the child will be able to join more advanced fencing classes.

Equipment: Your can bring your own fencing equipment or hire it from the club for just £20 for the length of the course.

Venue: Finsbury Leisure Centre, Norman Street, London, EC1V 3PU.

Individual tuition course for ages 7 - 13:



2 hours of one to one lessons with the Fencing Master which cover the same material as the beginners' course above but offer more flexibility in terms of days and times of the lessons. After the course the child can join one of the regular group sessions.

Individual lessons are the ultimate experience of fencing training. This short course can be divided into 3 x 40 min or 2 x 1 hour lessons, and will be tailored to the personality and the temperament of the child. He or she can take lessons alone or with a fencing partner/friend. The lessons will cover all the main concepts of fencing, such as on guard stance, fencing footwork, defensive and offensive actions and the rules of courtesy. Having this basis will allow the child to blend in with the fencing classes without difficulty.

The dates: arranged individually, on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evenings or on Saturday afternoons.
