Fencing Picnic Tango-Fencing New: Club hoodies! Results of the Championships

Fencing picnic: Bank Holiday, Monday, 31 August 09

Fingers crossed the warm weather will last for a few days longer!  Lets celebrate the last day of August with the traditional swash buckling al fresco. This is your opportunity to experience fencing the way it was before the sports halls were invented. Go in circles around your opponent? Yes! Blind them with the sun shine? Hopefully! Disctruct their attention by pointing to a bird in the sky? I'm sure you can do it!

Date and time: Monday 31 August 2009, from 2 pm onwards

Location: Highbury Fields. It is near Highbury and Islington tube (Victoria line or Silverlink). Walk out of the tube and you'll see Barclays bank on the other side of Holloway road. Highbury Fields are just behind it.
Here is the map.

Free parking after 1.30 pm.

What to bring: something to drink, something to eat, something to play and fence with.

Contingency plan: In case of heavy rain or other acts of Nature let's meet at Alwyne Castle pub nearby (
83 St.Pauls Rd, London, N1 2LY).

Tango Fencing workshop

tango fencingLast chance to sign up for the unique workshop which I'll be running with tango meister from the US Misha Goro.

The workshop which will take place in the UK for the first time ever, will explore how to merge the passion of tango with the power of fencing! We will claim that Tango Fencing is the ultimate martial love dance of our time which teaches to be gracious yet strong, playful yet precise.

We will work on a fusion of fencing and tango steps combined with the elegant blade work done to the rhythms and sounds of Argentina. It'll help to develop co-ordination, elegance, sense of rhythm and the general feeling of well being.

You will be able to practice Tango Fencing on your own or with a partner. Previous tango is welcome but not crucial for participation in this workshop. Places limited, so sign up now and do not miss this unique opportunity!
