Ban on Visor Masks

Complying with the decision taken by the FIE (International Fencing Federation) at its Congress last November, British Fencing will be banning the use of transparent (“Vision”) masks for all fencing with metal weapons.  The ban will come into force on 1st March, 2014.

This is a positive development. Visor mask were ugly, expensive, unsafe and contradicted rules of sabre fencing when they would prevent some cuts on the mask from being registered. Well done FIE.
